To all “my kids” leaving for college this week–especially those of you going for the first time–and including those of you staying at home and studying nearby, or not going far–my wishes for you…my prayer for you:

May your journey be safe and may your experience be enlightening.

May you be around new people who respect you, and may you recognize in others the Divine Spark that is within us all.

May you respect yourself as much as you respect others.

May you have fun, as well as get your work done.

May you make new friends and create new memories, and still cherish the old friends and old memories.

May you meet interesting people and discover new parts of your personality, and may you find people that appreciate you and the wonderful gifts you have to offer.

May you try new things, and have good judgement.

May your experience change you, even as you remain true to yourself.

May you gain maturity and independence as you spend these years away from home, and may you come back to visit.

May you take advantage of the opportunities that this new adventure offers; may you learn amazing things and share your wisdom with others; may you find wonderful people with whom to share your journey; may you know that if you’re not happy where you are that you aren’t stuck there; and may you know that the support system that you have at home is still there, even when you are not physically there.

And may you please keep in touch.
